Hi there!

I am just a beginner with my 2.5 month old Royal Python who is doing great and thankfully eating well with no problems so far. I have managed to feed him 4 times which he has taken each time he has been offered so he is doing great.

I just wanted to check if it is ok to use branches form outside to put in his enclosure as he appears to like climbing up my thermostat sensor that I have in his tub! Or do you have to buy from a pet store??.

Many thanks for any help -May sound stupid Embarassed but thought best to check as I know with some animals you cannot use any wild as such!

with any decor taken from outside it will need to be cleaned/sterilized.

if not too big, microwaves are the preferred method. be sure to wash it down and place in microwave while wet for a couple of mins to kill all the nasties Twisted Evil

otherwise a wash in a diluted bleach solution and rinsed in boiling water.
(and left to dry thoroughly of course Smile )

sometimes buying is a lot easier Very Happy

Hi Mandy,

Dont know where you are located, but if you can get to the show in Barking this Saturday there should be some sterilised decor for sale at good prices there Wink (much cheaper than the shops)

Thank for the info guys and particularly the warning of the less than graceful climbing ability of a Royal Python. Laughing Looks like buying it is the best way to go - And thanks for telling me about Barking but unfortunately not near there on Saturday! Sad
Cheers!!
