Thanks Guys .. 3 out now and a further two eggs pipped this afternoon when I checked
Ailurus their care is very similar to Trinkets .. temperature and humidity wise although where you might get away with just a humid hide for a Trinket with the Radiated the overall humidity needs to be much higher (75% min) these Chappies grow a bit larger than Trinkies averaging around 5-6 foot. They are also alot faster. Breeding wise they are very similar to Trinkies laying all year round with numerous clutches usually averaging around 4-6 but as many as 9 in a single year has been recorded. The hatchlings are difficult to start feeding many requiring assist feeding as they won't kick in with the conventional methods of starting difficult feeders. So not a problem for those buying one as it should already be established feeding but something to think about if your considering breeding them. They are born with attitude but soon calm down but then from around 18 months they become aggressive again in my experience. Saying that these T+ Albino adults are what I consider tame and very rearely display or bite, although they are constantly on the move when you handle them for brief sessions like maintance, they really aren't a species that likes handling. When feeling threatened after all the S'ing up inflating of the neck and mouth gaping, they play dead (similar to what Hognose Snakes do under times of extreme stress), this however is only something that I've seen once and that was in a WC animal.
As for availability, the 'wild type' are quiet often seen in the hobby, although there are alot of WC imports that still come in these will inevitabley die they do not fare well in captivity most are stressed and have a heavy parasite burden.
Captive bred 'wild types' and Albino's are available each year and shouldn't be too difficult to track down .. These T+ Albino's are not readily available yet and are not compatible with Albino Radiated, breeding an Albino & Albino T+ will result in 'normal' looking babies that are double het for both types of albinism.
