I am quite active on ball-pythons.net in the US and all of the breeders with lots of racking over there seem to swear by disposable water bowls.
I thought I'd give it a try.
4" Plastic Pipe Coupling from B&Q in the tubs:
and a 16oz Deli Cup with water...
Change the water every week and throw away the deli cup. (Which you can buy in cases of 500 cups pretty cheaply).
No more scummy water bowls, I think it's a good idea  |

Why not just clean the water bowl?
This seems like a huge waste of plastic.
I could maybe understand the mass production breeders using them but it just seems a waste to me |

Well to be honest it probably is a big waste of plastic, I suppose the Americans are known for their wastage.
The way I'v been looking at it is when you have 20 water bowls and always increasing, to scrub/disenfect every week, it just saves time. Especially as my waterbowls do seem to develop a scum which takes a good scrub to clear. |

1. Waste of plastic.
2. A ball python would knock that over VERY easily.
Not knocking CokaCola but this seems like a HUGE waste of time?

Haha we're not liking them here then, fair enough.
The idea is you stick the holder down to the base of the tub with aquarium sealant or something along those lines. I havn't done that, because I'm just having a little bit of a play with the idea.
They aren't that easy to knock over anyway...
They do save time in the long run, or that's the idea anyway??
and of course, they can be recycled. |

| I certainly have an open mind, if a royal was to mess in it's bowl, it could be replaced in seconds, in cleanliness terms, it would be like fully sterilising the water bowl every time it was changed. |

I agree with the eggman, it would save alot of time and messing about. CokaCola, do you mind me asking where you get the 16 oz deli cups from?.

Actually, scrubbing 20 bowls a week is not easy and takes time, plus extra scrubbing when a snake messes its water.
I can certainly see the benefits both for hygiene and time anyway - what's the policy for links on this forum by the way? I could maybe post some disposable water dish appreciation threads from the States  |
