Hey all,

Just need to know how many hours a pinkie can be left in a viv if not devoured straight away?
I defrosted 2 pinkies tonight at 6pm and she hasn't decided to eat them yet ( which is unusual for her, maybe shes gonna shed soon ), should i take em out now or leave them over night?

Do they smell off? I'd leave them on the cool side if they don't stink already. Take them out first thing in the morning. Very Happy

I have left them in over night but chances are she won't touch them now..If she normally feeds straight away then I would remove them but if she is a shy feeder leave them till first thing in the morning.Just make sure they aren't on a heat mat or directly under the heat or the smell may wake you up even earlier..lol Laughing

I've never smelt a pinkie thats gone off so i wouldnt know, mind you judging stuarts comment i probably would. lol
I'll take em out now, to be honest i didn't like the idea of leaving them in all night incase they went off and caused her to vomit.
Thx for your help

lol if they go off they might cause you to vomit. I've left mice in a cup of once warm water for two days, and it wasn't a pleasant whiff!

Yeah I leave foods (pinkies up to rats) in the rack overnight. After that they start to smell.

Believe me, for those of you that havent had the plesure, the small of rotting rat is PURE EVIL!

It's fine to leave them overnight as said though at the cooler end. I have a shy feeder that won't weat while I am in the room so I leave the food in the viv and go. It's always gone by the morning. If it is too bad a snake won't eat it.

She's deffo not a shy feeder, she doesnt care who's watching lol

She normally takes her food within an hour of popping it in. She has been acting a little different over the past few days though, hiding more than usual and not hanging round the viv glass to come out.I'm thinking she's going to shed soon, last time she hid for 2 weeks before shedding and is showing the same behaviour.Although she still ate last time, even when her eyes had gone milky.
I think i'll leave her a few days and see what happens, and then leave some pinkies overnight with her.
