Cleaned out the mice today to find one of the females with bald patches, two on is back one on its forehead. I have been reading that hair loss is most likely down to mites/lice. What do you guys think about causes/treatments. Another things she is in with a male and her litter so they probably have them too. She is not particularly old (about 5 months) so its not old age.

has she any marks around her ears?
also, the bald patches, are they just bald or are there sore areas too?
Personally any rats or mice in my breeding colony with any signs of illness etc are removed from the breeding group and then put into retirement in the belly of a snake _________________

No, no sores/scabs etc just no hair just smooth skin. Apart from this she appears fine. I don't have a problem about her becoming a meal for a snakes more worried about it spreading to other mice and the whole lot of em having to be killed. |

In that case I'd use her as a feeder, don't take any chances. _________________
