Nice to take a few action shots once in a while although they are more active than most people think. At least my two are anyway
I've had the WA Gaboon for 4 months now and I let her explore the boundaries of her domain for the first time last nite. Shes been taping at the glass for me to open up her cage recently but normaly she only pops her head out, tastes the air then goes back in again. She decided to take the plunge for real this time, in fact I had to catch her with a pair of long snake hooks!!
Thanks for looking _________________ You can't trust the snake......but you can always trust the snake to be a snake. |

Yeah i know it looks bad but shes very calm and gets only a little bit defensive, I make sure I keep my distance and I'm always holding my pair of 4' long snake hooks to keep control of the animal.
In fact shortly after taking those pics I gently scooped her up with those hooks and put her back into her enclosure without so much as a protest from her. I regulary have to interact with them so its best they become accustomed to my moving them _________________ You can't trust the snake......but you can always trust the snake to be a snake. |

Certainly is a stunning looking snake. Just the fact that they can do a lot of damage would scare me! _________________ Need a website? 8 years experience, GREAT rates for reptile keepers, currently designing several reptile websites. Also graphic design, hosting and marketing services.

Nutcase. Cant you just zoom in from 20feet away? I wouldnt get any closer than that. not without bulletproof glass in between anyway!

I've been feeding her 1 medium rat every 4 weeks however she recently shed so last feed she got 2.
She's due her next feed soon so this time she's gonna get 3 large mice because she doesn't strike-feed yet, prefering the food item to be left in her enclosure overnight. She always gets defensive when offered medium rats on a pair of tongs so I will see what happens with a smaller food item.
My Puff Adder has these and she strikes every time. Its really quite impressive actually and lightning fast.
Interestingly enough, the Puff Adder NEVER strikes at medium rats either. She gets one every once in a while _________________ You can't trust the snake......but you can always trust the snake to be a snake. |
