my adult leopard gecko has either a white fungus or dry skin on his nose which is a little bit lumpy, i cant tell what it is.
ever since i noticed it he has stopped being active, could there be something wrong?

It looks like he hasnt been able to shed properly, does he have a warm moist hide to go into, like a tub with a hole in it filled with damp moss? if so he should loose it in a few days. Smile

thanks for the solutions.
i think this is the 1st time he hasnt had a damp area. its just coz most set ups that ive seen for leo's dont have them at all. but ill put one back in, thanks.

I think humid hides are one of the most important things in a leopard gecko setup. Roughly 10 years ago when I got my first reptiles, a few leopard geckos, I made the mistake of not providing a humid hide... As a result (I didn't realise at the time) unshed skin built up on the geckos digits and they ended up losing almost all of the ends of their toes Sad

. It was only when I showed my neighbour the geckos (who also kept them) that the problem was pointed out. It was entirely my fault for not noticing, but if I had known/read about using humid hides when I read up about leopard geckos it wouldn't have happened. It's a shame really, a humid hide would have been a simple solution to eradicate my geckos shedding problems. Looking back I was probably a bit on the young side to be looking after leopard geckos on my own anyway, I learnt a lot though. I still have the geckos today, and they are still doing great, just nailless Sad

Needless to say all of my leopard geckos are now provided with humid hides, and benefit from them a lot Smile

Sorry for rambling, just wanted to share my experience..

good god! just reading that made me worried. to be quite honest im only 15.
i will put in a new humid hide for my adult 2moro if possible. and for my baby
which i have only had a week so thanks for all the help.how young were u when u had ur 1st leos?

I was about 10 or 11 I think, they weren't entirely my geckos though, my older brother wanted some and he was kind enough to let me 'own' one. I soon took over though when he eventually lost interest Rolling Eyes

actually this one was my brothers but he gave it me as a present when he got his crested geckos.
but ive put in a humid hide in now so hope is restored!!

Just have a hide in the cool side and one in the warm (obviously) then mist the cool one once a week or twice if you like (i mist once a week).

Don't worry about the unshed skin to much, its takes a good few bad sheds in a row to cause a problem on somewhere like the nose. Its important that your leo sheds well but dont worry to much about it as well.
