I've had this little fella, lovingly named Paedo, for almost a year now, but I've not actually found out what exactly he is.

The label on the tank in the shop (he was bought as a gift for me) apparently just said 'Giant African Millipedes'

For the first 6 months or so, he just stayed buried under the soil, no matter how warm he was kept or how damp the soil was. He's been completely different for the last few months-he's ALWAYS pottering about.

The photos are in order of date, the first being shortly before he first shed. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

No idea...

I'd better explain the name thing...

A few weeks before my birthday last year I said to my boyfriend "If I ever got a Millipede, I'd call him Paedo" He said "Really? You SWEAR you would?" me "Yeah!"

So guess what turned up on my birthday... Rolling Eyes

its possibly one of the giant train miilipedes from Africa but its not the one you normally think of A.giga, giant train millipede.

I recon its a Spirostreptidae species African olive millipede, the common names for them are a bit confusing because different people name them different things

Thanks! I'll do a bit of reading on that species, it's always good to know what exactly you're dealing with isn't it? Smile
