I know of some monkey tailed skinks for sale, for £250 each, and am seriously considering them, as I've always liked them. has anyone got experience of these in captivity? What are they like (personality wise)

Corucia are often considered to be pretty mean, and many specimens bite readily. Having said that, their keepers are pretty fanatical, so they must 'have' something. Take a look at the skink forum on kingsnake.

Cheers
Mark.

Just don't ever get bitten!! One of the most painful bites in lizards and they won't let go for hours!

They are a very inquizitive lizard, which can often be mistaken for aggressiveness however they are definately not the sort for handling. They have large claws due to them being mainly arboreal and a prehensile tail which isn't used as much in adults as it is in youngsters. I thought they were a really cool lizard to work with, got the scars to prove it from their nails Laughing

Best of luck with them, as mark says there seems to be few keepers of Corucia but those that do seem to really admire and appreciate them Cool

Cool

I'll keep that in mind Confused
I wanted them more as a display animal, and breeding project anyway. I think the reptliemania DVD really set my mind on them!

We had two at college and they were really laid back and friendly never attempted to bite anyone and didnt mind handling at all (wearing gloves though like said sharp claws!) they were one of my favorite lizards there and very cute. loved their food and were just generally nice lizards Smile

A good friend of mine has an adult pair. They are some of the most laid back lizards i have ever met. They crawl all the way from your feet up to your shoulder and then just sit there Laughing
I find them one of those animals to be listed under "so ugly they are cute" Very Happy
