They are so good at it that you can pick them up and inspect them and not see any breathing or eye movement at all. I bumped the cage once which startled the chameleon which fell to the floor of the cage looking much like the one in the picture...and this is how I found it out how well they do it.
I know of one person who took what he thought was a dead one out of the cage and laid it on a paper towel nearby to dispose of it later...and when he went to dispose of it, it was gone! |
