Here is a pic of a Brookesia playing dead, quite hard to spot so it works well!

They are so good at it that you can pick them up and inspect them and not see any breathing or eye movement at all. I bumped the cage once which startled the chameleon which fell to the floor of the cage looking much like the one in the picture...and this is how I found it out how well they do it.

I know of one person who took what he thought was a dead one out of the cage and laid it on a paper towel nearby to dispose of it later...and when he went to dispose of it, it was gone!
