Has anyone had any experiance of moving snake eggs a few weeks after they were laid?
I'm talking about a 20 mile move, not just in and out of the incubator. Anyone know when the eggs are at their most delicate etc?
thanks. _________________

I've took eggs on the train with me from Chatham to Bexleyheath, which was about 1hr 30mins including waiting time. Just wrapped the egg box up in newspaper to hold the heat and held the tub from rocking about etc.
The eggs were about 2 days old. And all of them hatched.

A friend of mine has moved from Kent to Somerset lately and has got a fair few tortoise eggs of various ages, So I will ask him how he gets on in a couple of months to find out the results, But he did mention that he has found with his tortoise eggs that they do not need to be kept at a steady temp, so he said they would be fine for the move. (Fingers crossed for him).
What eggs have you gotta move? And Its normally a case of once the egg has been laid and allowed to get its steady position they are normally quite good to move about, providing you dont roll them etc.

I'll be moving all my ball python clutches, some will be almost ready to hatch others just a wek or two old.
I'm not concerned about the temps, I'm sure a drop won't harm them, more worried about vibrations and bumps etc
thanks for the info so far _________________

I've moved a clutch of 18 ratsnake eggs (to the pub ) then on the train which took about four and a half hours...give or take ...and every single egg hatched successfully between 7 and 12 days later _________________ Regards James Stroud |
