|
|
Ok, 3 days ago I got my second leo (a 12 month old female blizzard I called Pinky), she's on her own in her tank and was feeding quite well at first and wandering about, but for the last couple of days she has refused to come out of her hide, except for once today where she came to the entrance to cough up a waxworm, and that's all she's eaten (or not, in this case!). Is this normal? I'm sure I remember my first leo being shy at first too.
There is also the possibility she might be pregnant, might this make her more vulnerable to stress?
Any help would be great thanks,

how is she doing??
She could just be shy, but gecko's are usually quite nosy. Personally my gecko's have never coughed anything up and i would be more worried about that than her hiding.
Like i say I'm only going odd what mine are like so i may be wrong. |

Leave her alone for a week apart from changing the water to let her settle in. I have found that most geckos dont like change and it can take them from a few days to a few weeks to settle in to their new home. If she has a fattish tail i wouldnt worry for a 2-3 weeks yet _________________ People laugh at me because I am different

Hi, thanks for your replies. She's doing much better now and is eating again I put my other gecko Cleo in with her and it seems to have brought her out more. She did actually lay an egg, but by the time I had found it it had dried out, which was a shame. I did try putting it on some damp moss, but this didn't seem to work. I'm glad she's eating though, as she seems a bit on the skinny side.
I don't have a pic of Pinky yet, but here's one of Cleo!

UPDATE!
Pinky has laid another egg, this one didn't seem collapsed like the other (maybe because she laid this one in the cool hide?) so I've got it in the incubator. As this is my first go at breeding I was wondering, how soon can you tell if it's fertile? At what stage does it start getting bigger?
My other question is how many more is she likely to lay? The place I got her from said she had already laid 2.
(and she's back into hiding! Must be an egg-laying thing...) |
