hiya people i have some questions about incubating leopard gecko eggs this is my first time breeding anything.
i was wondering what people use as incubator containers? as i use cricket tubs and i think this maybe why i have problem
i use vermiculite which will clump when squezed without dripping and but also crumble aswel which i have read about but the vermiculite seems to get less dry as time goes on would this be because of the amount of holes in the cricket tub???
i have already lost 1 egg which i wrote about in the "weird egg" post before and dont really want to lose the other 5
so i just wondered what containers you use when incubating eggs and whether you think the cricket tubs could be the problem?

I also use cricket tubs, but the vermiculite can dry fairly quickly (especially if you are using the coarse stuff). Just add a few drops of water when necessary. Maybe the eggs aren't hatching because they are infertile as it sounds like you are doing everything right.

ok cheers i have seen the male mating with the females but as it was an egg from their first clutch there probably infertile hopefully the other clutches are fertile thanx for the help

I SWEAR MY EGGS ARE DOOMED just had a power cut and my eggs went from 86 to 80! im guessing this means they are dead what do people do when theres a power cut? my first breeding isnt going too well

Such a small, gradual temperature drop lasting such a short time won't have killed them. The development will have slowed during the powercut, but they'll carry on as they get back up to temp.

I had a heat mat failure last year that didn't kill mine off, and that was sub 80F for 2/3 days!

some books i have read on incubating leo eggs say to use a tubaware(dont no how to spell that) container and they also say to use like 6 parts mix to 4 parts water(from one source) or 1 part mix to 1part water(another source). also the temp dropping a few degrees is ok and anyways 80 is the temp for incubating leo eggs to be female so it shoodnt be a prob

but about the container. it shoodnt matter as long as the container can retain moisture for humidity and also a little heat just in case
