hi all a few questions. My female and male are crests are at breeding weight and age. I have tried a few times putting them together but although i have seen them in a "clinch" the female is not gravid. So questions, how long after i put them together would she lay eggs? She dug a hole about a week ago and was sitting in it, this was 25 days after she had been with the male, its now 42 days and no eggs. Also, i left her in the larger vivarium, and because i thought she was not gravid tried to put the male back in with her, but she just kept biting his nose, so i took him out. Should i put him back in the large vivarium and introduce her?. thank all. mark

As you have kept the geckos seperate they may of established territories and therefore when you add the male breeding is the last thing on her mind, rather she's more interested in defending her space.

I would start again, empty the larger of the two vivs, clean it and re-set it up so that it's neutral to both animals, then add the two. You will still need to keep a good eye on them in case they still 'argue'.

Make sure you provide loads of visual barriers so they can escape each others site when they wish/need.

As for egg laying, so long as you have the right nesting conditions, she will lay when ready, that's of course if she bred.

Thanks Scot, would that be the same for introducing another female to the group too. i have managed to get another female and after her quarantine period she can be introduced to the other 2. Also how long would i expect for eggs after the male and female have been put together. Just so i can mark it down on my calender as an expected date.
