Surely if you apply and you abide by the conditions set by the council they have to at least CONSIDER your application?

Can't see how they can just flatly refuse you, is that even legal? Confused

yep it IS illegal for them to refuse if you abide by their guidelines, unfortunately not many people would be prepared to pay for a court battle against their local council

Hi,

The recommendations for the up date on the DWA list are:

Boiga Dendrophila to come off. Very Happy

but

2 snakes are meant to be going on Boiga Irregularis and Philodryas Olfersii. Shocked

plus an couple of scorpions Hemiscorpion Lepturus and Scorpion Maurus.

This up-date has been banging around DEFRA since 2001. So I wouldn't hold your breath, I did and almost died. Wink

No disrespect to anyone but unless someone has inside information from DEFRA its self I don't see this being done anytime soon.

Though now the new animal welfare bill is up and running it they may start looking at the DWAL revamp. We can only hope.

Wil.

DWA review has been ongoing for ages

"Changes to the list of species covered by the Act had been planned to be taken forward in 2006. However there were other legislative changes planned which also related to the keeping of wild animals, such as the Animal Welfare Bill (now Act) and new proposals under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) which addressed welfare and conservation objectives respectively."

"This means that changes to the 1976 Act's schedule are now planned for early 2007 alongside the Animal Welfare Act coming into force."

http://www.defra.gov.uk/wildlife-countryside/gwd/wildact.htm

Don't bother e-mailing them, I did and got nothing back, not even a "Mind your own business!" one.

Early 2007...... love the ambiguity Mad
