Biscuits tail has something on it but I dont know what! Shocked She was crawling over my hand and her tail felt a little rough n so I had a closer look and its either food, poop or a wound of some sort.. its only tiny and dark so i can't tell if its something stuck on it or the scales of her tail raised in a tiny lump.........

I've tried using a damp cotton bud to ease it off but it doesn't seem to be budging.. and since Lauren told me about how crickets biting a lizard can sometimes kill em, now I'm worried that a little b*&!$^d cricket has bitten her!! She doesn't seem bothered by me touching it..... infact she's being very calm..... which is also worrying me!!!

I'm hoping that I'm over-reacting and that it is just some poop or food that needs a good soak.. but incase it is a wound what should I be looking for? and what should I do to clean it? I dont have any iodine solution or anything....

Thanks
Jo

It may just be a peice of food that needs a good soak in warm water before it'll come off. But things you should watch for are:

Any sort of puss etc oozing from the wound,
Any attempts that she may make in biting at it,
Inflamation,
Spreading (if its an infection).

I always use Reptile Heal Aid. It comes in a small bottle and you apply it to a cotton bud then dab it onto the wound, repeat each day (obviously after reading the guidelines provided). Its a good healing agent which I have used to clear up a gammy eye, and a foot wound, both of which healed perfectly. You con get it in most reptile shops.

But if this thing has just appeared over-night then it's probably something stuck to her!

Perhaps you could provide a picture? If in doubt take her to the vets, good luck with her. I'd hate for anything to happen to a Gecko with the same name as my Beardie! Wink

Sorry for the large pic

Thanks Paul Smile You're beardie looks fab, super name too Razz

I will go to the shop and get some treatment of some sort..

I soaked it and wiped it with a cotton bud and the dark thing came off but I'm thinking it was a scab now and not food as it looks a lil shiney and scarred underneath where it was.. Sad
There isn't anything sharp in the viv that she could have hurt it on so I'm thinking it must be a either a cricket bite or possibly a wound from while she was in the pet shop... but I'm sure I would have noticed it earlier if it had been there that long... Poor Biscuit. Sad On the plus side it doesnt seem to be hurting her... that I can tell anyway...

She is very small and the wound is tiny.. I'm not sure I can get a piccy but I will try.

Crix are just evilness, I just love to watch my mantis eat them alive Twisted Evil

But on a lighter note im glad shes not to bad, at least if it was a sore you can treat it a little better.

Actual thinking of getting some Geckos myself, any you can recomend? Wink

I recommend my Spud and Biscuit! But you can't have em! Razz Laughing Cresties are awesome! I am biased perhaps but you've gotta love 'em! Very Happy

This is the best photo I could manage to get.. the thing looks a white colour but its actually just shining in the light.

I see what you mean, hopefully it'll just heal over and come away when it sheds.

Could your Crestie have burnt itself in any way, as it looks a little like a burn scar?

Nope, no way that she could have burnt herself while she's been in my care as I dont give them added lighting or heating.. And in the shop she was in a small faunarium with no way to come into direct contact with heat..
At least she doesnt seem upset by it.... I've just got some iodine so gonna clean it now..

does it look a fresh wound or a scar type?

If it's more scar type then hopefully it'll go soon enough.

Well I dont really know, this is my first injured reptile Shocked
I can only assume that it is a fresh wound otherwise it wouldnt have been scabbed over?
Does anyone know how often I'm meant to put this iodine stuff on her? Confused
Do I need to do anything else to prevent infection??
Thanks
