Googled varanus albigularis and got a some info. This was one of the first:

Try a search on kingsnake.com, as I believe these monitors are more commonly available in the States. _________________

Varanus albigularis albigularis = White Throat Monitor (South African)
Varanus albigularis microstictus = True Black Throat Monitor (East African)
Varanus albigularis ionidesi = Black throat Monitor (South West African and the one most commonly seen in the pet trade)
They are basically all the same under the skin, just separated by color and pattern and slight size variation (white throats are a bit smaller) |

Cape White throat monitors, are just a different locale of Varanus albigularis albigularis, so their for White throats should not all be called Cape White throats.
There is also Varanus albigularis angolensis.
Varanus albigularis iondesi some people don't recognize them as a supspecies.
As for keeping this species, they can all be kept the same, with White throats tending to climb a bit more.
Cheers,
