|
|
Having read earler threads on here and other Reptile Forums, with regards the costs involved in driving out to the shows in Holland and Germany, and the problem associated with Flying and not being to bring anything back. I decided to have a chat with a person I know who organises coach trips both abroad and in the UK.
When I mentioned the problems, and that a possible solution would be to spread the cost using either a coach or minibus, he seemed quite interested. However, I have not visited any shows abroad yet, and so to take this further, I am after some advise, information and opinions.
If I may just ask a few questions, and also I welcome any opinions with regards the subject of Coach trips to shows abroad.
1. Is there a call for coach trips to shows such as Houten and Hamm?. I know some coach trips were advertised, but do people use them?.
2. Would people prefer an overnight trip or full weekend?.
3. Would you want the full package (coach & Accomodation) or just a Coach and find your own Accomodation?.
4. The coach is Kent based. Would you be prepared to travel to Kent for it, or would you prefer some kind of pick up service from say Birmingham to take you to Kent?.
5. What show would you prefer? Hamm?, Houten? or another?.
6. It is unlikely that we could get this sorted for June, but would you be interested later in the year?.
7. Payment, would you like to be able to pay over a couple of months?.
8. What would your ideal itinery be?.
Obviously, some of these questions are going to invite the response 'depends on how much'. Unfortunately, at this point I have no idea, it all depends on the size of the transport, level of accomodation, itinery etc.
All I am after is somewhere to start calculating the feasibility of such a trip.
Again, any advice, is welcomed. _________________ 31August2008-Kent Reptile Show (Amphibians & Inverts welcome) for more information & Booking e:mail: mrac@sky.com |

I think lots if people would be interested. Its probably easiest to stop overnight before the show so you can be there early then leave straight afterwards. If you include accomodation you might be able to get some kind of group booking discount. I guess the easiest way for everyone to pay would be a deposit when booking then the rest on the day of travel. Central pick up in Brum is a very good idea, with maybe the option to meet at the tunnel as well for southerners. Roll on Hamm in September! _________________ Tom

I think a coach from burmingham(with parking) to Hamm in sept would be brill!
I would like to go with ma mum in sept and I have emailed a guy who is taking two coaches (trantular barn I think) but the only prob is I live in the NW and you have to meet at the tunnel or ferry or sumet.! _________________ Regards, Paul.

1. Is there a call for coach trips to shows such as Houten and Hamm?. I know some coach trips were advertised, but do people use them?
The only coach trip I know of for Hamm in september is already almost full, so yes theres a decent interest in them!
2. Would people prefer an overnight trip or full weekend?. Personally I would prefer overnight because of work etc. but a weekend trip would be more enjoyable.
3. Would you want the full package (coach & Accomodation) or just a Coach and find your own Accomodation? I would prefer to pay one sum for the whole thing, not sure if others would feel the same
4. The coach is Kent based. Would you be prepared to travel to Kent for it, or would you prefer some kind of pick up service from say Birmingham to take you to Kent? I would travel myself but many people using a coach service would probably need help getting so far south.
5. What show would you prefer? Hamm?, Houten? or another? Hamm is the biggie, but personally I like Houten (not the same crazy crowds!) I think a Hamm coach would be most successful.
6. It is unlikely that we could get this sorted for June, but would you be interested later in the year? September is the one to go for really!
7. Payment, would you like to be able to pay over a couple of months? Would be nice for those on a limited income _________________ -Hannah- |

Thanks for the replies. I am going to do some searching to see if something can be put together. The coach is the easy bit, finding hotel(s) that suit everybody is the bit that will take the time. It may even require a visit. _________________ 31August2008-Kent Reptile Show (Amphibians & Inverts welcome) for more information & Booking e:mail: mrac@sky.com |
