hello
Where are you getting it from?
IS it CB,CF?
Is it eating defrost on a regular basis?
Keep it in a small box, dry but humid with a good hide and resist the temptation to handle it untill it has had a couple of meals, unless it is pounding food already,

Royal Python CF 2007 First of the year, two feeds and shed.
my mate showed me the site i got it from, and has had some from there, and have been good feeders, so i should defo wait 2 or so weeks before trying to handle? do they tame well? should i wait a few days before offering food? And i should have him in a faunarium? not a 3 ft viv?
Thanks for the reply sorry for all the questions, i just wana be a good owner. _________________ 1 female anery

sounds good,
faunarium would be better or a small contico. put the heatmat under one 3rd of the box and set to about 88 surface temp inside the box.
They need a good hide.
I use a small tupperware with moss to give humidity, but the teh floor needs to be kept dry. the faunarium might not keep them as humid as they like.
If it will I would feed it appropiate sized food every 4/5 days, all royals are different, some are not bothered by being handled and will eat no probs, some you ahve to leave a couple of days to feel secure.
what is the store/site you are getting them from?
hope helps.

http://www.exoticsandtropics.co.uk/index.asp?function=DISPLAYCAT&catid=168 thats the site im getting him from, it looks good and was recomended to me by a friend. but someone told me cf's are bad and have mites and wont eat, so now im a lil worried, also i have a 3ft viv i could put him in, if that would make humidity any better? Or would he be too fightened in a big viv? _________________ 1 female anery

they sound o.k. check this part of the forum,
CaptiveBred Reptile Forums - Forum Index -> Breeder / Suppliers
exotics and tropics.
The advice on keeping, on there website is good, especially
(start hatchlings in a box that measures 14-8-5 inch. This can last up to six months or so subject to growth, one a royals at 2-300g its time to move up )
phone them and ask them to make sure it has had a few feeds before they send it. If they are any good they will be more than happy too and build a good reputation in the process.

one more thing females are better to start with. they can take 3 years to become mature, males can breed from a lot younger.
If you later want to breed it will be easier and cheeper to get a male.

I have ordered a male, im not planning on any more snakes at the mo, and not thinking about breeding, as id like to breed my leos next yr.
Should i keep him away from all other reps?incase of mites? as the heat matt i was going to use, is the same i have a male gecko on. i can put him in with the girls tho, as they are only babies and wont breed yet. _________________ 1 female anery

It's always a good idea to quarantine a new reptile for a while before keeping it in the same room as others.
Good luck with your new royal-most of the ones I've experienced have lovely gentle dispositions. _________________
