Does this look like a suitable enclosure for a rhacodactylus gecko? Im managing to maintain it at a reasonable humidity-nowhere near as high as the dartfrog vivaria.

I would say add some more thick cover, as in the day, they like to hide amongst a thick bunch of leaves, or some cork bark. Perhaps some cork bark with a climber hanging down it?
Also, if possible, add a plant like a ficus or some other bushy plant.
Other than that, it look stunning! _________________

thanks I'm hoping that the pothos will take over the back walls to give that thick layer of cover (i have killed almost every ficus pumilia I have ever looked at) the back left corner has oak bark positoned into a little cave, which goes up the back a bit. A couple more bark hides and some more cover plants will be put in shortly then _________________ Interested in amphibians? It looks great, where did you get the branches?
I would agree with Mememe, a bit more cover wouldn't go a miss, apart from that it looks fine _________________ Steve P |

Thanks cleef-if it doesnt grow in well enough I will probably use some plastic plants until it does (oh the sacrilage!) The logs are from the wood around my parents house...they have been soaked in bleach and then twice in water. They are oak _________________ Interested in amphibians? Same comments as everyone else really, also just watch out that the air doesn't go stale in there. The air should really dry out each day, with just a light spray each night (can miss a few nights so long as there's a water dish). _________________

Thanks scott-you cant see it in the photo but the viv has good ventilation: an 8" strip of mesh run across the top and a 2" strip in the front (think euro viv style for dartfrogs)
Thanks for your advice-look forward to arrangingto get a gecko from you _________________ Interested in amphibians? Join us at Myamphibia for friendly banter, amazing pictures and great information. Make some amphibious friends today! |
