Thanks for the comments guys ...
Paulk and lol93, thanks, Ive seen quite a few hatch over the years, I never get bored of this either ...
Rickeezee, cheers, the female is over 35 years and the male is a real old buzzard, I am not sure of his true age (over 50 I reckon?!) he has lost most of his shell colouring too ...T.T. _________________

Wow how good is that. Must admit there is something very endearing about hatching torts. So how old do Hermans need to be before they can breed, is their breeding capability also related to their growth rate and size, as opposed to just an age thing?
Would I be right in thinking that a tort grown on slowly, given obvious variations in care, could generally be described as being a better raised tort than those that have been forced on? Or is this to much of a generalisation and other factors come into play? I guess there are probably pros and cons to this.
May I ask your views on keeping Hermans please; indoors or outdoors? Or a combo of both, pros and cons. Don't want much do I Must admit my tort knowledge is extremely basic and I have noticed a huge change to the husbandry of torts since I was a kid and they were £3.00 a go! Obviously husbandry and information has improved since then!
I have read up on them on various websites but its allways nice to ask such questions of an experienced keeper. Thanks. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

Superb photos and congratulations. The eggs look pristine, the feeding photos are quite humerous too, good job _________________ Steve P |
