Ok the female boa who gave me babies last year who was due to give birth 6 weeks ago, finally did today!

We had 23 ova's, 4 still born and 3 live which don't look great tbh!! But they are moving about so we shall see, the 4 still born were 3 hypo's and 1 normal, the 3 live ones are all normal but one is very pale but that coul dbe because of their birthing!

Well mum is fine and has tried to eat my face several times while I removed her to clean her tank!! Don't you love em!!!?!?!?

Anyway I am over the moon that the mum is ok, I will post some pics of the young soon if they survive!

I still have one more girl to go so here's hoping!!!!

Better luck with the next ones. Is there anything you can do to "make sure" for a decent live ratio with boas, or is it the luck of the draw? Not saying you didn't lol, just don't know much about the live bearers.

as someone has pointed out this litter was probably conceived by retained sperm from last year, as last year I had 22 live babies, no still born and 1 ova, and this year she i smuch bigger and if things had gone well I would have had 30 babies!

I will feed mum later and give her a rest next season and will put her with a few new boa's I have coming soon!!!!!

Boas are hard work sometimes, the females just sit in the wrong part of the cage when gravid and make you worry, they arent getting enough heat or too much heat....

The long gestation drives me crazy,

Did this female eat much during the time she was gravid?

How are the babies doing?

Breeding reptiles has many highs and lows.
