Well, i've got to laugh really. All four of my juvies have turned out to be male just typical! I was hoping to have at least one little girly in there somewhere!
Is there some sort of secret sexing method that the breeders keep to themselves?
Not everybody has bulges yet, but i'm pretty sure that they all have pre-anal pores. Unless females have dents in their scales that could look like pores?
*Looks around pleadingly*...
No?
Ah well Boys they are!
Although i'm a wee bit disappointed, I don't mind too much...I think they're all gorgeous anyway
Rolo:
Moose:
Twix:
And finally, Crunchie!
I'll find a girl or two one day _________________ Sophie

Thanks
Has anybody else been in the same position? And ended up with a statistically improbable number of boys? _________________ Sophie

I've always ended up with with at worst 40/60 male /female, sometimes 20/80 split.
I can honestly say I don't even try to sex cresteds until they are almost fully grown. Yours look stunning geckos but I wouldn't say for sure that there all males just yet.
Did they all come from me? (or none ) _________________

I'd be inclined to wait until they are at an age where bulges should definitely be present. Pre-anal pores are pretty hard to spot without a good closeup photo (easiest way) or magnifying glass. I have a definite male crested and spotting noticable pores on him does my eyes in!
I have taken the 'unsexed juvie gamble' too btw when I found out my first crested was male. Main reason being that adult females a quite hard to get hold of, good luck with your sexes _________________ Steve P |

Twix is my favourite I think, the marble effect on the back is brilliant _________________ Steve P |

lovely geckos there-am thinking of some of these for myself...I have a set of naturalistic vivaria set up right now with nothing to go in!
Those are some great pictures _________________ Interested in amphibians? Join us at Myamphibia for friendly banter, amazing pictures and great information. Make some amphibious friends today! |

Yup, I have to say that i'm quite attached to them, so although they will all likely need to be split...well, i'll just get a couple more vivs
I have a 10x magnifying loupe which i've been using to look at the pores. I'm convinced that I can see them on all four, plus bulges developing on a couple.... though I might hold out hope until they *all* drop
Scott - i've only got one from you so far (Twix the pinner), though if you're at the Doncaster show - i'm not sure i'll be able to resist taking another off your hands!
Cleef - yes, I love the colouring on Twix's back too! Reminds me of milk and white chocolate swirled together, or maybe choc and caramel (probably why I bought him in the first place ) and hence the name. The pins are like two biscuit fingers...or maybe I just think about chocolate too much? (*she says, whilst munching through some Cadbury's*...) _________________ Sophie
