First, how do I regulate the heat in a self made racking system Question As so many breeders seem to only use racking. One would assume that a cooling period would be essential.

Second, if I used the really Useful Box's from Staples would I need to make holes in them as they are not air tight Question

Any ideas would be super-dooper Idea

Cheers folks Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

You regulate the heat the normal way with a thermostat Very Happy
Just be aware that different heatmats even though they are the same size and made by the same company will give out slightly different heat leavels and that temperatures can vary by as little as 2-3 degrees and as much as 10 degrees on each shelf.
I find the best way is to plug all of the heatmats into the gangway plug and leave for a while the stat settles in and then measure each individual mats temp. The hottest mat should go on the lowest level of the rack and the coolest mat at the highest level.

I have my leo's heating on 24/7 but the snakes get the heating turned down or off ot night, dunno why I just do Confused

The really useful boxes are ok .... just ok not great or even good ... just ok and expensive for what they are. I guarantee you can find better and cheaper boxes out there in most hardware shops if you look about.

Why do you want the boxes airtight ?
My boxes look like they have been in a drive by shooting ... i like lots of ventilation Very Happy

A few different racks with different containers but notice the holes in the sides Very Happy

there would be blood all over if they looked like they had been hit by a drive by shooting.
