I just heard a funny story from a zookeeper.
Now they have this pair of cumingi's at the zoo, nice looking animals. For a while they had them in a large, but temporary, enclosure. When their own exhibit was finished they moved there and the large enclosure was used for a to house some lacies, again temporary, and then stood empty for a quite while, drying out slowly.
Now imagine the surprise when one of the keepers looks into the cage and suddenly sees a young cumingi walking around in the supposedly empty enclosure They then started to dig around and found 8 eggs, out of which so far 5 babies have hatched Now is that cool or not? |

Wow! Nice one!
I only know of one zoo keeping both these species, are we talking a story of Dutch pride here Ron?

I don't know if pride is the right word in this case but yes. Luckily I have to go there next week, so I'll certainly have a peek at the babies. If I remember to take a camera with me I'll post some pics. |
