Hi there

Needing advice! Been advised to be feeding my corn 2 Fluffs/Fuzzies every 7-10 days.

Been looking at websites and they go on about hatchlings. I've had mine a year in July this year and he approx 2ft long.

Is he classed as a Hatchling? If so what is best to be feeding him on? Should I stick to the fuzzies 2 at each feed or should I swap to Rat pinkies and then only feed him 1 every 7 days?

I have just started to feed him 2 fuzzies every 7 days (or when he had completely cleared himself so I don't have any nasty accidents!) Is this right?

Please help

Hello Flo!

Anything up to 4 weeks is classed as a neonate, beyond that they are juveniles and after that they are classed as sub-adults. Juvenile just means an animal that is not yet sexually mature although I prefer sub-adult. Hatchlings are most likely just that, fresh from the egg up to a month or two old.
At 2 feet in length I would suggest feeding larger prey, anything that he can swallow really, without too much hassle. Rat pups would be fine. You will get a feel for your snakes appetite and weight gain, young snakes need reasonably large amounts of food to grow well, and strong. There are arguments about not feeding baby mice or rats for too long, and I prefer to feed small hairy mice as soon as possible, the extra hair and stronger bones seems to help with digestion although don't worry too much about this. One a week should be fine for now although judge it by how hungry your snake is. A good system to employ is to feed once the last meal has passed through, but I like to vary feed days when I can, to keep them keen. Very Happy
Snakes have evolved to accept prey sizes that still make me surprised, I have snakes that are thinner than a pencil that eat pinkies and I like to give them a bit of a challenge eating.
Hope this helps

Al
