These snakes are masters of the art of shammimg death. Youngsters give up the ploy quickly, but the older wily ones are supreme. You can prod it, poke it, pull it, stand on it and even pick it up and remains as limp as a newly killed snake. It even lifts up the tail and emits a dead smell. Its incredible to watch. It stands up, hooding and spitting and then it just slowly goes limp and collapses.

But sometimes it blows its cover..... Smile

Legionis to follow shortly Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

They spit, but its not quite as bad as, say a Red Spitter. All my Rinkhals do, some just do it quicker than others.

growing up in Africa we were always lectured by our parents and pears never to pick up dead snakes, this phobia stemming from this very snake.
beautiful snake, rather intimidating to come face to face with one though, in its own environment.

fortunately i,ve never made a habit of picking up dead things Laughing
