So I'm the proud new papa to a juvenile albino California king. I understand that redwood, cedar and pine are toxic to reptiles and so they will be avoided in the construction of her vivarium, but are there any other things I should avoid?

I'm thinking of building something like the bathtub viv that Master PT posted pictures of, but on a smaller scale. I'm chiefly wondering about toxic adhesives, paints and other building materials. I'm already head over heels for our new family member and I'd hate to cause her any harm for lack of foresight on my part.

So, I guess it all boils down to what materials are safe for king snakes and which are not?

I kept a Kingsnake for a while and she loved Aspen bedding.

She liked her privacy and would make little tunnels in which to hide

when she wanted to. However some snakes don't get on with it

at all, it makes them sneeze as it can be a bit dusty.

make sure you provide the snake with a temperature gradient

i.e a warm end and a cool end and keep the enclosure away from

drafty places and always change the water every few days and you'll be

fine. Enjoy your snake Very Happy
