Does it matter if I use a mixture of coconut fiber and pete moss, rather than using vermiculite for the incubating substrate?

I think that perhaps mold would be a problem?

Thanks it does seem that the mixture would retain too much moisture, so I'll go with the vermiculite.

It makes no difference what incubation medium is used. Ideally the medium should be slightly damp but with a high background humidity in the container, although I would slightly dubius of peat moss due to its slightly acid content
Vermiculite and/or perlite is normally used because it is absorb ant, allows good air flow and is cheap to buy.
I have used sphagnum moss, eco-earth and even kitchen towels before to hatch eggs as well as the usual vermiculite and perlite.
At the moment I have the bulk of my eggs on vermiculite and a few on eco-earth.

falcon sorry to be using ur forum for this but shelby what is your mix to water ratio for your eco earth because i tried eco earth this year but the eggs failed so i switched to perlite. so far the eggs look good but they still have a while to go in the incubator.
