It seems as though there is quite a demand for insular V. salvator variants over in Japan, and Dizzypoint.com has been cashing in on this demand for years now. These photos are the first V. s. nuchalis I've seen posted on their site in months, as lately they've only had V. s. cummingi and 'normal-ish' insular V. salvator variants.
Interesting looking monitor, the head (sans the coloration) looks more like V. s. cummingi than the V. s. nuchalis I've seen in person and in photos. |

No they are not my animals those ones reside in Japan as Bob said.
I posted them because you do not see them too often especially ones that look as good as these.
To be honest although they look nice I still prefer cumingi plus water monitors can be hard work when bigger with all that water changing and humidity. I saw nuchalis in the flesh several years ago and they are different with very large raised bumpy scales on the top of the neck.
Nice but not my bag. |

The cummingi and nuchalis are great monitors,
The nuchalis shown here are extremely nice, being totally white they come from a few islands in the phillipenes so I wonder if there is colour variation,
Does anybody in the UK have the nuchalis?
Herpafauna exported quite a few CB babies about 3 or 4 years ago so they should be somewhere ! _________________ Life in Bali is sweet,

I know of one nuchalis on mainland Europe and was told about 4 years ago that someone in the UK also had nuchalis, but I have not seen them so I cannot say for sure. |
