Had these arrive today, tiny little things (for now!) They look great, am really pleased with them Brought a bit of joy after the sadness of seemingly losing my tads. big thanks to ChrisM!

Nice one Sam, how many have you got?....I think you'll be quite surprised by how quickly they grow ...And you might want to start thinking about housing them separately in the not too distant future...or the population of them may start mysteriously dwindling
They are a really active interesting mantis, I'm sure you'll start to acquire more once you get the bug (pardon the pun! )
There are some seriously weird and wonderful mantids out there
My personal favourite are orchid mantids |

Im quite fond of them too...very pretty! I have six, currently living together but with plans to move out into individual houses soon (maybe tonight...)
As you can see from the photos, they are tiny!

I got a few as well I did have 6 but I sold 4 because they got quite fiddly and with all the other spiders to feed they were a bit hectic, but I have 2 and they are great.
They can jump hell of a far for little things and they never want to go back in their pots its a nightmare trying to get them back in funny though.
I have an adult African mantis as well, but shes got a bit more temperamental with age doesn't want to come out so much but once she is she doesn't want to go back in, its a shame they only live about a year cos they are well cool, I'm planning on getting some more from the BTS show if possible. |

They are very quirky and quite cute at this stage it seems! Am anxiius to learn more about them. Rehoused them tonight in individual plastic pint glasses with kitchen roll tops. Two leaves in each, they seem to be doing ok. Three of them took one hydei each tonight! Not while I was watching unfortunately _________________ Interested in amphibians? Have a lot of spare fine mesh kicking around from having my latest dart tanks built, could use some of that for a more permenant enclosure at some point. _________________ Interested in amphibians? They're really fascinating Sam. I think I'm going to get an orchid mantis at some point in the near future. What are they going to live in? |

still not entirely sure mate to be honest. Would like to set up quite an aesthetically pleasing container... something along the lines of a temple reclaimed by the jungle (fitting in with the preying/praying theme )
I will just have them in temp accomidation until they are considerably bigger-they are minute at the moment! _________________ Interested in amphibians? Join us at Myamphibia for friendly banter, amazing pictures and great information. Make some amphibious friends today! |
