Cool

I love herps as long I can remember. I kept lizards, a frog or two, a few house-borne cornsnakes when I was growing up. Unfortunately my parents or girlfriends made me give them away.

Now, I live with a bunch of people who I share a house with. Anything go -- no rodents. I already got a mixed geckos and anoles without any conflicts.

Now... I want a snake. Problem? No feeder mouse, even if it is frozen/thawed. Don't know where I can easily find quail eggs, nor do I want to deal with the difficulty of water snakes.

Just my little gripe. Hope I will become an active member of the community from here on after.

Try insectivorous species like rough greens (Opheodrys aestivus). They are very cool diurnal snakes that are quite active, and due to their diet of eating crickets in captivity have been successfully kept with green anoles. They also look like baby boomslangs! Laughing Cool

OK, that's bit extreme, what if you got one of those little bar fridges in your room to keep your frozen food in there they would never have to see them.

i keep mine in a tub one cant see threw in our communal fridge,no one even i aware that they are in there most of the time. Laughing

hope they come to there senses.

good luck amigo

The food would still defrost in the fridge. As far as I'm aware, you can't buy mini freezers.

Put the food in an icecream tub labelled 'snakefood'. Noone need see them!

Rolling Eyes to them, it's a matter of animal cruelty. It feel like I am with PETA members sometimes... hurrah for me. I just had to move in with a bunch of college girls.

At one point, I wanted to build a reptile house, but I realize that university got their hands in my pocket.

They do have mini-freezers for fish and wines, but they're around 400 or 500 GBP.

Anyway I will look into the rough greens. From the look of it, they are quite nice to keep. I just have to find out how much they cost. Laughing

Rough greens go for about £25, but can be quite difficult to keep successfully. I started with 3 and now have just 1 left after 6months Sad . they are beautiful little snakes though, and worth having a go with.

I know when I was in the States, they went for about $5. I can see that importing it can drive it up from about £2 to £25.

I wonder what happened to them? They're suppose to be good for about 4 or 5 years in captivity.
