Feeding the fish today and noticed one of them had a male toad stuck to its head, the toad had his front hands wedged firmly in the fishes eye sockets, i had to net the fish in order to prize him off. Strangely the fish didnt seem to bothered by him and still came up for its food. Ive heard of smaller fish drowning because of toads clamping onto there gill plates, but it didnt do her any harm. _________________ www.Reptilebreeder.co.uk

I can't resize stuff - rubbish at that stuff, I'll let Stu do it...
Interesting behaviour, perhaps he just wanted a ride!
Either way, something fishy going on _________________

You have to be careful that frogs don't put there legs under the gill cover damaging the gills. _________________

Hate them? thats strong.
Did you have a bad experience with one when you was younger?
Davo
A few years ago now i added another slow stream running into the pond to attract wildlife and last year we had one loan female palmate newt appear, this year though is going well, there are currently 6 in there, 3 pairs and all three females are gravid. Also every year for the last three we have just 1 female frog that comes to the stream to lay her infertile eggs, there are also lots of damsel and dragon fly larvea in there so dont know how the yound newts and tadpoles will fair. _________________ www.Reptilebreeder.co.uk
