hi i have alot of mantis and want to breed them but the first part to breeding them is sexing them so i just wondered how to sex mantis ive seen websites saying 8 lines on the abomen = male and 6-7 = female but then ive seen websites saying it the other way round .
does anyone have any pictures of their mantis and the sex or anyone that could just tell me which is right

Okay, you need to look on the underside (ventral) of the mantids abdomen. You will see clearly defined segments. Start counting where the rear legs join the thorax.
If you can count more than 6 it is female. You can see 8 on a male, 6 on a female.
