me and mark want to get our 2nd snake in the near future and were thinking on a royal, im adamant that i want an albino royal at some stage but i have never seen any for sale. we have seen a young royal and she was lovely and yesterday met a boa born in june and i must say i fell in love with him and his mum.

now i dont want a snake that is too chunky as im only 5ft tall but i know that boas grow longer but are they as heavy and chunky as pythons?
what type of boas are there and which is best?
what is the difference in there needs?

boas in general are more heavily bodied than pythons, although something like a brazilian rainbow boa is quite slender. You could also consider a Hoggs Island boa, these are generally smaller than normal boas. Or if you are looking for something even smaller, Rosy Boas (photo below is an albino).

dwarf boas liek sonorans max out usually at 5ft and are much slender than their bigger cousins!! Also look at things like childrens or stimpsons pythons, maybe other rosy boas, a nice rainbow is a stunning animal and was my first boa I got a pair of CRB's! colombian raindow boas!

Good luck I would to be honest stay off royals as a starter snake as there are nuances with royals, they are not a difficult snake if u understand their mannerisms but as a new snake keeper these can cause people to worry!

good luck with whatever u get and we hope to see pics!!!
