Was cleaning out my cricket tub and found this monster. I haven't seen an adult cricket this size before lol.
He doesn't run around, he charges
Check out his conker head

I once put a box with some crickets in outside because I didn't want them anymore. I was letting the crickets escape then I'd throw the box away. I left the box a few days and thought they would have all left but when I went to pick the box up there were still some inside. One of them made me jump when it scuttled out. It was a giant black cricket. I couldn't believe how big it was. I guess it had been eating other insects that it found in the garden. Makes me shudder just thinking about it. |

That actually happen to me too. I had a breeding tank for crickets, and when I was cleaning it outside a couple escaped. After a while I found a cricket in my garden, totally black and huge.
I also dropped a wax moth larvae into my mantis tank, where there also was a cricket running around, before the praying mantis even had the time to strike the cricket was chewing away on the larvae...creepy :p _________________ Aussie geckos and monitors |

Sorry I have no pic, but I found a weird looking cricket in my breeding tank too! It was slightly bigger than the others, and was completely black, exept for its head, which was a lovely purple colour! It was adult, as it had weird wings folded together, but sticking out of it`s wing cases!
My female Beardie didnt seem to mind its unconventional looks tho!!! _________________ 1.1.7 Bearded Dragons

I found a couple more like the one pictured. They are built like black field crickets, but not quite, possibly some hybrid? Anyway, I just had a load of eggs hatch and the pinheads are jet black _________________ Steve P |

Nope they are 'silent' crickets Gryllus assimilis Great feeder cricket for larger lizards although they can be quite agressive and will bite a sleeping lizard if there's nothing else to eat. I always used to leave a piece of potato or carrot in the viv when feeding these. _________________

I remember checking out some crickets a while back that i had just bought. They shed right? Well when i looked closer there was a bright white cricket that must of just shed. But half the body was missing it was horrible. The other crickets must of taken a liking to it and eaten it. What made it worse was it was still alive (not for long) one of the sickest things i had seen _________________ R.I.P Kemari |
