was just taking a break from revising for my second year uni exams an went into my animal room to be confronted by two fertile perfectly formed eggs in my web footed gecko tank Cool . she could only have laid them in the last hour or so since i was last in there so i took them out and incubated them immediately before any crickets found them and decided to chew on them. unbelievably happy Very Happy

that brings my current egg incubating total to the following;

30+ leo eggs
12 crestie eggs
8 G.lichtenfelderi/hiaensis eggs
4 G.luii eggs
11 A.persica eggs
8 L.lugubris eggs
2 gargoyle eggs
2 barking gecko eggs
2 P.bastardii eggs
2 P.pictus eggs
3 giant day gecko eggs
1 mossy gecko egg
and of course 2 p.rangeii eggs

having a good year so far i just hope i get good results with the hatching and rearing phases as it one thing to get them to breed but a different kettle of fish altogether to raise offspring.

cheers, will

here's a quick photo to show you how small they are, i was unbelievably lucky that she laid them on the surface rather than burying them as if they had been buried i seriously doubt if i would have found them.

cheers, will

the amount of information i have on them is pretty much nothing so in a sense i am making it up as i go along. i have them in one of the small exo terra glass terrariums with a mix of 4parts sand to 1 part forest bed as a substrate to a depth of about 3.5-4 inches with a few bits of cork bark on top. there is a heat mat under one half of the tank and a 5.0 UV tube over it, the air temp in my animal room ranges from about 26C to 28C and they appear fine at this temperature. i feed them 3 times a week on dusted small hoppers and they have gone from strength to strength. i keep the lower half of the substrate a little damp to help with their burrowing but as i said earlier i was lucky as she laid the eggs on the surface. as for the eggs i have them just on some dry sand in a cricket tub with a bottle cap of water in there too, the relative humidity is about 40-50% and I'm hoping that this will be more than adequate, I'm incubating them at 26.5C and as for how long they take to hatch i have no idea ill just wait and see if they do or not.

cheers, will

sorry ment temp humidity and substrate for incubation!
my ser up is similar but im using a over head spot bulb instead of a heat mat as they burrow down to cool in the moistened sand but with a heat mat it does the opposite! since i changed it they seem to have burrowed more perminant burrows as the sand seems to stay moist longer!
for what is often decribed as a delicate species in so many books seems fairly hardy!
