Im going to start looking for some Pygmys soon to go in a 36x15x17 tank but have a few questions.

1. What plants would work in a pygmy Viv? Any tropical plant websites would be useful.

2. I go away from time to time (a couple of days at most) so will need to set up some kind of automatic misting system and was thinking of a spray and fogger system on a humidity control, does that sound OK?

Any tips greatfully recieved.

I can only tell you what I use in my vivs and that’s mostly ficus, bonsia and dwarf bay trees sometimes pothos.
A misting systemwould work I think but I have never used one so I cant really say, what would you do about feeding when you go away? These little guys can eat and if you get babies they will need a couple of feeds per day, adults on the other hand would be ok with a feed every other day. Re: Feeding, I was planning on setting up a feeding station to get them used to it. Then add more feeder pots if I do go away. Also free roaming food for day to day.

I was also planning on using springtails and woodlice (any others?) as cleaners, would the Chams eat them?

Hi Nelson i dont think the chams would eat the springtails etc mine never would, but they will make good tank custodians, as for a feeding staition i have always free roamed my food so i cant really say if it would work. My pygmys will only eat crix i have tried lots of other small feeders but to no avail, let me know how you get on with a feeding station i would be interested to hear how it goes Very Happy

I will of course keep you guys up to date.

Plan is:

Get the tank set up IE: Plants and mister/fogger etc up and running and balance the humidity.

While this is getting up to speed, find some CB (is a must for me) Pygmys (a couple of spieces have caught my eye) from a privite hobbiest and keep them in a smaller tank (fake plants etc) so I can keep an eye on them to make sure all is well.

This is my first foray into keeping Chams so any sites that are good for tips/keeping these wonderful animals would be great.
