haha - bites!! One of the first reptiles I was bitten by was a beardie - that hurt!! Shocked Since then there's been corn and rat bites and the occasional king - they're cheerful snakes eh? Oh and a bosc monitor (luckily just a juvenile!) worst animal to get bitten by thou was a degu - look like giant gerbils - horrible little ball of fluff with teeth!!! Made my hand look like a football for about 3 days! Not recommended! Crying or Very sad

Oh of course! Whenever I get chatting to someone new and mention I have frequent dealings with things cold blooded and scaly, they always ask me what my worst bite is.

Hamsters. Oh and that ferral cat that nearly split my thumbnail with its fangs.

Well it finally happened, having only been bit by a garter before, i have been a little nervous about taking a bite from my royal, so i decided to face the fear Razz

In my local Exotics they have a couple of very grumpy 06,so i offered to clean them out Shocked

Deed done! It went a little like this ``where is the OUCH disinfectant``

Fear gone Very Happy
Although i wont be volunteering with the 12ft Burm sat in the corner, im sure it grinned at me.

I had a emperor scorpian many years ago, it was kept under a uv 'black light', this made him glow bright emerald green (amazing if you have never seen this!)

Do you know anywhere to get these black UV tubes, and can they just be used with a normal UV tube power pack?

You can buy blacklight kits for about £15 from Argos Smile Also novelty shops like Clarendon Imports sell them. I think you may be able to get one from an aquatic or reptile shop. I'll have a look through my trade catalogues for you Smile

I had my finger chewed by an adult albino kingsnake that I went to rehome 2 weeks ago.

My first bite Smile NOT a friendly snake!

Thanks. I was just wondering if you could buy a tube like the UV ones that I could maybe just switch the reptisun one I have now to the black light at night time.

We were handling my friend's king snake which is really grouchy. My mate said "ah, she's fine!" so i said i'd have a handle as i'd always been warey of this one, as she was notoriously nippy.

Slithered around on me no probs, then looked like she wanted to go back to my friend... so he moved his hand an inch or so from his leg so she could slither onto him. Did she? No. She munched his hand hahaha... would NOT let go either, and it was the middle knuckle on his fore finger too... jeez, did she apply pressure with her coils... hahaha!!!

In other news, i was handling a grumpy boa constrictor. it's owner said "I'll have it back now" and shot her hand out toward it's head. what did it do? Clamped itself around her wrist.

Ya know what? 6 months on, and i still get the blame... furking ridiculous! apparently i was squeezing it. yeah right.

My first bite was from a snow corn a few years ago. I'd just taken the mouse out of the warm water and dried it off. However Mr.Cheesy was still hot and as heat rises I assume the snake went for the centre of it which was the fleshy part of my hand by my thumb.

It wasn't too bad but the little git wouldn't let go and was in a pissy mood all night after that Twisted Evil
