Yes, egg binding and slugging are common with fat girls.

I have a large female that has layed 38 eggs in the last 3 years, she seems like she's going again this year.
Even thought shes over 4 kilo, she's not fat, just very big.

Am I right in saying that if they are fed steady consistent meals rather than trying to push loads down their necks, and a let to have a wander about rather than just sitting in a tub, they will gain steadily and will convert that to muscle rather than fat. I think I've read about power feeding adults not being the way to go, for exactly that reason, you want a nice steady gain...........................................................................

deff steady gain , power feeding has drastic results on organs like heart , kidneys , liver ..... think about this ....how many ''meals'' do ya think a wild python would achieve in the wild Question a lucky one may get 12 in a year ....maybe....food for thought.

I have three large females, 4.6kg, 5.1kg and 5.4kg. It was said at one time that these larger animals all came from Benin rather than the Ghana shipments?

out for a wander doesnt excersise the muscles near the vent though, which is what you need to do to try and prevent egg binding. i let mine wrap the tail around my arm and pull up from there. they can all manage it easily. also royals can manage bigger food items than normal, ie you wouldnt feed a royal hatchling on pinkies, so i think the best way here is the amount of times you feed. mine are all fed on a friday, apart from the corn hatchlings, fed twice a week, and kya, also fed twice a week. but kya refuses to move up a food size, and still gets one small mouse per feeding.

I moved mine last feeing from every 7 day to every 5 days, and they ate like pigs, probably due to the fact that the weaners they were getting every 7 days were to small. So now they've had a good stuffing and I've ordered small rats, I think I will move them back to every 7 days just to be on the safe side. I also collected another 4 little girls yesterday, they have some very nice colour in them it'll be interesting to see what happens, and BOY was I in the DOG HOUSE Crying or Very sad
