Picked up the weaner rats today as tomorrow would have been 10 days since his last feed.
They do look quite big but maybe when I have defrosted one then it will look a bit more streamline.
He is shedding now. (Or is about to in the next few days), so not feeding just yet.
Anyhow, my question is...
How long do rats last in a freezer?
Apart from the obvious, initial 12 hours.
Are they much like a chicken which could last about a year? _________________ Joey (From Sunny Clacton-on-Sea)

they do look bigger when frozen, they get squishy when defrosted. _________________

Do not use after three months , anymore than a three month suply and you are getting too many to start with
I only ever have a week ahead in my freezer , i.e. I always replace a weeks supply after feeding ( 10 food items per feeding = 20 in freezer ) _________________ 3.7.0 Royals

3 months is a long time.
I like to have at least a month with me incase something goes wrong with supply but if 3 months is a top limit then at least I have a guide now.
Thanks for the info yet again.

Hello again.
Just thought I would let you know how helpful you all are.
He shed on sunday. Left a nice full skin rolled up and tidy in the corner of his dry tub.
I thought I would offer him a weaner rat to see what he done.
He striked straight away but let go and left it.
I tried to entice him even got out the hairdryer but he was having none of it.
I put it back in the airing cupboard and tried it again at 2:30am monday morning. (Being a taxi driver means I am up silly hours)
He striked again but let go a couple of times.
I thought he was getting fussy again as this was his first rat.
Anyhow, after a bit of tugging he didn't want to let go again and ate it.
Thanks for all your help here.
Thought it only polite to tell you how I got on with his new food. _________________ Joey (From Sunny Clacton-on-Sea)
