So generally the females going into breeding season will be close to the 2k mark???

Would be good to know and may shed a bit of light.

Mike in that study I posted it showed the average Length to be 128.4cms for gravid females, also 8.1 average fertile clutch size, babies hatched at 40.2cm and 55.7grams ave.
Weights of females, looks like the average weight was 1388g's, I'm guessing that weight was taken AFTER the clutch was laid. The smallest wighed 1010grams after laying 4 fertile and 1 slug. Average weight of clutch 772grams |
Last year I hatched 7 clutches of Ball Pythons. Discounting the smallest clutch of 4 and the largest clutch of 9, I averaged 5 eggs per clutch with 100% fertility. All my females were from 2005 and ranged from 1550 - 1850 grammes pre-lay. It would seem, therefore, that the study referred to be Scott would indicate that typical wild females were 3 years or older and greater than 2000 grammes in weight to produce such a high average clutch. |

Just wanted to post this picture - two females, both around the same age.
The one underneath is much shorter than the top one, chunky bodied, and I would be happy breeding from her. The other female, despite being heavier, is long, thin, and will need to do quite a bit of bulking up before putting a male near her.
But if we went strictly by strict weight rules, then only the long skinny female is suitable for breeding ... |

Its part of a tent, you know the canvas/fabric things you use when you are camping and don't want to freeze or get wet?
You can get them from ebay for roughly £15. _________________ MORE THAN 2! |
