My comment had nothing to do with the motives behind keeping your monitors on wood shavings, nor the potential for succeeding in keeping them under such conditions.
You mentioned how spectacular your animals looked, comparing them to other V. spenceri you've seen; I was simply commenting that there is nothing spectacular with your animals' colouration or patterning, and that the 'cleanliness' of your animals may easily lead someone to believe that your animals are more spectacular in appearance.
Most captive V. spenceri, and certainly all wild V. spenceri are not exposed to the dirt-free living conditions which you choose to offer, therefore your animals matched up against any of them will obviously appear more extravagently colored and patterned. This is all I was getting at with my post. Your animals certainly are spectacular looking, however I would not call them above average or atypical in their appearance when compared to other representatives of the species. |

Well I have seen spenceri in my own hand, before I acquired mine and they did not look as good as these, although they are a "spectacular" species all round whether they are defined in pattern or not so defined.
I am sure the likes of JohnC, Warhammer and lophius who have seen my animals and set ups would agree they look even better in the flesh. |

Ok Sean, I apologize. It has taken me a while, but I have finally figured out that you are the best. You have the best monitors, the rarest monitors, and the most attractive monitors.
I will never again question the rareness or uniqueness of any of your captives, for they will always be better than anybody else's. |

Cheers Steve. I will try to take some more shots maybe later, hopefully I can capture the essence of the animal. I don't really like to disturb them that much but sometimes I find it difficult to get descent shots in the enclosure. |
