Only joking Rick. Wink I like them too. I think Scott and Mark are implying that the Dubia are easier to "handle" not being climbers and perhaps not so fast , is that right Scott and Mark? Are they a temperate species also though, the dubia? If so then that is the only disadvantage that I can think of, that being that if temperate , they could colonise over here.

I am breeding lobsters now and find them very useful but I would be silly not to give the Dubia a trial also so I may just do that.

yep, that's about right, just an easier species like I said above...slower, can't climb and still big and juicy.

They are tropical and will die off if they escape into the house Cool

Nowt wrong with the caves or lobsters...just not preferred species Cool

Yes; I concur with the other Mr. W Very Happy
Very Happy Very Happy

I accidently 'let' a big batch of dubia go in my reptile room Shocked I found them all again - they would be clustered together on corners of heat mats etc - 99% of them really didn't go far at all.

By contrast, I was still finding lobsters six months after I thought I'd got rid of them lol.

Cheers,
Mark.

Yes in a reptile room I think lots of roaches may well survive due to the heat but in a normally heated home I doubt they would. Yes the dubias are wussies really and the lobsters a lot braver and hardier Laughing Laughing Laughing

I take mine regularly to rugby practice to make real roaches of them Laughing

I was suggesting that your lobster roaches are tough, hard or 'rock'. Like the 'Rock Lobster' in the B52s song???

Never mind Rick. Very Happy
