Jack you have never even met me and i havent measured myself in like 6 months and this thread is going off topic.

I use matsfor the majorority of my animals, including my ball python.

This is way I heat, keep and breed my royals, my biggest female is over 2.2kgs and there is plenty of room. i use an 18 x 11 heatmat on a pulse stat, and the boxes are ikea komplement, approx 33 x 18 x 9

Thanks, I think I'll stick with the heat mat and see how he goes... if any problems arise i will change him. He seems happy atm in his 22x15x15 viv with a heat mat.

I was told that heat mats are dangerous for royals because they have muscles underneath that heat cannot penetrate so its easy for them to burn themselves my royal is heated with a infrared on a dimming stat has been fine and happy for a year now night time temps drop a few degrees when the room cools at night
