What are the chances of getting some helmeted geckos? I've never been to a show before but as I can't find a breeder in the UK i'm willing to travel!

If you do, be prepared to have problems bringing them back through Customs Sad

Thinking about it, you might be able to get away with it under the new Pet Passport regulations that now include rodents. You would have to check that they were included as they are a rabies susceptible mammal. The work I did with DEFRA only covered chinchillas.

Unfortunately not been to Hamm.....yet !! The other half isn't keen on me buying animals in the UK, let alone any where else.

There is supposed to be easy movement or trade within the EU, so the Pet Passport is supposed to show that your pet is safe. It normally only applied to carnivores such as cats, dogs and ferrets. These have to have rabies shots etc. A few years ago the rules were expanded to include certain rodents, such as hamsters and guinea pigs. I spent ages e-mailling and phoning depts in DEFRA all round the UK to get the initial list expanded. The worry was that the initial list just gave examples of rodents, but Customs officers were taking this as being the only ones covered. I pointed out how insane this was, and by the end was getting my own e-mails being sent back to me from other depts as government policy (which was fun).
