the second photo is a Uroplatus fimbriatus (tell by the eye patterning). as far as satanics go they are about as rare as rocking horse do-dah and i am only aware of a couple being in the UK at present and nobody is successfully breeding them here in the UK as far as i am aware. i do know of someone that has at least 6 of them reserved for collection from hamm in September encompassing both the larger and the smaller subspecies/localities but i have to agree with Scott that they are probably on their way to extinction due to habitat loss. the uroplatus are a great genus and its such a shame that they are so difficult to get hold of but bearing in mind how delicate they are its probably a good thing as it stops them Turning up in pet shops very often and therefore only tend to be kept by gecko enthusiasts.
cheers, will _________________ 61 and counting |

its funny to hear this, as in the states they are everywhere. They are decently cheap, and come into the country in good numbers. Despite how much I agree on focusing the breeding efforts on Malagasy species, there are many more species that need to be bred in captivity in any urgency over the satanics.
Sadly, most Malagasy herps arent doing too well, but Satanics are doing well enough to still be exported. Its the Phelsuma that need help... _________________ Peter Alexander

We have these in our local rep shop. £100 each, and they are even more stunning up close... I was tempted, and would love to breed them, but you need a fair size viv, and i just aint got the room, or the experience for anything so rare. _________________ Custom made vivs to your requirements.
