The 350d and a few others including the 400 are well noted for being small and plasticky but each to their own...at the end of the day you could have a £3000 camera and a £3000 lens on it and still take crap pics (not you personally) alot of it comes down to the person.Both nikon and canon are at the top of the pile with dslr's and you pay your money you take your pick..alot of the nikons are also coming free with capture nx now..typical after I have already got my d200..lol..your right the software nikon give you is a joke for the money you spend.

Cheers Steve..only had digital slr's for just over 2 years,before that I had a sony cybershot. I had anikon 35mm slr many moons ago and pretty much forgot what I had learnt with that camera by the time digital had taken off. All self taught really and lots and lots of picture taking... Plenty of craps ones on my computer as well! _________________
