Is that the regular meal worm or the giant meal worm or both ? have you tryed the giant meal worms ? mind don't think much to the regular type but go mad for the giant ones as they are far more lively. |
I personally now ONLY use giant mealworms, I use half grown ones for most of the geckos, these are far higher in nutrition than standard 'bran fed' mealworms PLUS have the advantage of NOT turning into beetles. _________________

I'd like to know more about your pink-eating group, Scott - how often do you feed them pinks, how many at a feeding? I know I've got a couple of geckos who won't touch them, so I'm stuck with the tank of locusts anyway, but I've got a couple of geckos who love their pinkies. |
I feed as many pinks as they will eat twice a week, no other food items are offered. This could be up to 4 per gecko. _________________

No problem, just make sure you feed the mealworms a good diet. |

If you are UK based this is not something you need to worry about as we DON'T have chemically fed mealworms here.
If you are reading USA web sites or books this can be confusing as in the UK giant mealworms are (Zophobas morio) these are NOT fed on chemical food to make them grow bigger the size they are is there natural size.(Zophobas morio) in the USA are called superworms and kingmealworms.(zophobas morio) though is can take a while do turn into beetles.
Here's the bit that most likely confuse you giant mealworn in the USA are (Tenebrio molitor)normal/regular mealworms that are fed on a chemical food that make them grow large.Giant mealworm (Tenebrio molitor) also coz of the feed will never turn into beetles. There has been no story's of leo's having any ill affect from eating them but surely it must be past on after all you feed the mealworm it then you feed the chemically fed mealworn to the leo .
So if you are UK .
Giant mealworms-(Zophobas morio)-Not chemically fed.
Normal/regular-(Tenebrio molitor).
If you are USA .
Super mealworms/king mealworns-(Zophobas morio).
Normal/regular-(Tenebrio molitor).
Giant mealworms-(Tenebrio molitor)-chemically fed normal/regular.
Hope it make sense if any one can make it any clearer please do . |
