Nice photos.
I've been trying to talk my mother out of filling in her garden pond recently. Last year my daughter tried walking across the duck weed thinking it was grass , so my mum was keen to get rid of it before there were any more accidents. Unfortunately it is one of the only ponds left in the area these days, so practically all the local frog population tend to end up there. Never been able to get toads to spawn there, want to swap a few Jas ????
How long is your stream then Jas if the toads spend all of there time in there ? Must be quite a depth.
I want to build a pond in the garden here, but I have to take out one of the conifer hedges first...and I'm not looking forward to doing that. When we moved in they were taller than the house. Over the last five years I've managed to cut them down to about 6ft tall, and almost killed myself doing it. It will probably just end up with goldfish in it. I cannot see myself going to the trouble of filters, pumps etc that koi seem to require. I've been told that koi need quite a deep pond as well to get the right body shape as they grow. |
